GMES Land User Workshop

The latest GMES Land User Workshop took place on May 26th and 27th, 2008 in Stockholm, Sweden. The focus of this workshop was the presentation and analysis of results of national and European mapping activities in Scandinavia and Baltic countries. Participants included high level users from national enironmental and planning directorates and Ministries, the Norwegian Space Centre, EEA and the European Commission. 4th geoland Forum and OpenDay

The Fourth and final geoland Forum and OpenDay took place on February 7-9 in Berlin, Germany, hosted by the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building, and Urban Affairs (Bundesministerium für Verkehr, Bau und Stadtentwicklung) in their very attractive Erich-Klausner-Saal.

Participants from the geoland consortium, numerous related parallel (GMES) projects and various additional stakeholder organizations appreciated three days of interesting presentations of geoland results, outlooks, and fruitful discussions of future challenges and opportunities.

The Final geoland OpenDay was opened by Dr. Engelbert Luetke Daldrup, State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs.

10. February 2006: 3rd geoland OpenDay

Presentation of the geoland project´s progress, status, and achievements, further goals and ambitions; as well as the demonstration of links and complementarities to other (GMES) projects in the Austrian "Bundesamtsgebaeude" in Vienna.

9. February 2006: 3rd geoland Forum

For the first time, the geoland consortium dedicates a part of the annual geoland Forum to discussions and the interchange of views, ideas and results with related parallel GMES projects - two technical sessions and a poster exhibition were conducted. Furthermore, a UserDay - giving users of different services and projects an opportunity to exchange experiences - was organized.

10. December 2004: second geoland OpenDay

The second geoland Forum was held on Dec 8th - 10th, 2004 in Toulouse, France:
A working meeting of the participants accompanied by an OpenDay, in which project, content and progress and the overall GMES context was presented to external interested parties.

25/26 February 2004: geoland Forum

The first major meeting of the European project geoland, the geoland Forum, has taken place in Potsdam and Berlin on February 25th-27th. More than 100 participants, representing 56 user organisations, private and public service providers and researchers from 15 European member and accession states, spent two full days on the premises of GeoForschungsZentrum (GFZ) in Potsdam, harmonising their joint project work in dedicated discussions.

The geoland Forum IV will be held in Berlin on February 7th - 9th, 2007.
On February 7th, technical session with parallel GMES projects of ESA and EC will be held. In the afternoon, a User Workshop with representatives of mandated user organisations will be conducted.
February 8th is dedicated to discussing the key finding & results and to working these, along with the user's recommendations, into appropriate next steps for GMES Land activities.
